History -
Europa founder John Interlandi was born in Korumburra Victoria, from
migrant Italian parents and started to make cheese on the Strezlecki
family farm in the late 1950’s.
The image to the right shows John with one of his first big orders
in 1958, his truck fully loaded with matured pecorino cheese, bound
for Sydney.
After more than a decade John and his wife Jacqueline finally managed
to purchase their own Melbourne factory in 1971.
Thus Europa Cheese Pty Ltd was established.
Concentrating on matured European Cheese Europa Cheese went from
strength to strength and eventually had to move to bigger premises
in Dandenong in 1984.
A further growth in demand saw Europa Cheese move to our current
premises in Pakenham in early 2005.
This new factory will enable our product range to increase and provide
us with greater capacity if our demand continues to increase.
Current operations -
The new premises at Pakenham will enable the company to incorporate
modern cheese making processing techniques. Greater efficiency and
a higher level of hygiene as well as a comfortable working enviroment.
A factory outlet where the public can buy in bulk is now available in Pakenham. The Dandenong outlet is now closed.
Quality -
Our processes are constantly monitored by a Food Safety Plan (HACCP
PRINCIPAL) and audited externally to the Standards set by Dairy Food Safety
Victoria.
Our new factory has been designed for export potential
and to further enhance our quality and consistency of product. |
